Physical Inventory Count
Performs physical inventory tag count entry into MFG/PRO [3.16.10].
The program works just like the manual MFG/PRO [3.16.10] “Physical Inventory Tag Entry” data entry screen EXCEPT that:
the Tag# is manually entered on an RF Gun (running telnet session of MFG/PRO)
the Part Number (and Lot/Serial) printed in Code 39 Bar-code Label affixed on each inventory item, is read using the bar-code scanner
the physical Inventory Location is read off of the bar-coded Location label (located above the Location).
the quantity counted is manually entered.
This approach mistake-proofs the entry of the Part+Lot/Serial and the Inventory Location by scanning them from bar-coded labels.
In addition:
Manual entry of the Tag# are still open to data entry mistakes, but RF/BAR makes sure that the Tag# exists,
Manual entry of Quantity Counted is still eligible for manual data entry error, but RF/BAR validates the quantity against the current MFG/PRO inventory quantity and suggests that there might be a problem if the physical count and the MFG/PRO on-hand are different by whatever tolerance business rule you want to establish.
Manual entry of the REMARK that is associated with the count cannot be validated (and is not critical to the MFG/PRO inventory update).
You get a lot of mistake-proofing in RF/BAR to make the physical inventory job easier and more accurate. It takes a lot less time to scan the count information than it does to manually write the count information on a Tag and then manually enter the info into [3.16.10].
